Home

Teagan missed her daddy more than she wanted to admit! Pearl was so happy to have us home. The tail wagging and following us everywhere told us how much she missed us.

San Diego Day 5

We were missing our breakfast smoothies so we found a place called Jamba Juice. We got our smoothies and drove down to Mission Beach and walked along the boardwalk drinking our smoothies. When we finished our smoothies we took off our shoes and walked along the shore on the was back. It was a cloudy, cool morning but by time we got back to the car the sun was out and it was warming up. Teagan loved walking in the waves. We were both wet up to the knees as the waves were unpreditable and caught us by suprise a few times.

We went back to the hotel and rented bicycles. The path didn’t go very far around so we only went for 45 minutes of our hour rental. We saw a seal at the boat launch. When we returned the bikes the rental guy told us we should of crossed the street to the Hyatt and we would of seen lots of seals. So later in the day we walked over there but the seals were too far out to see unless you went out in a boat.

Then we went for some lunch and over to Pacific Beach and walked out on the pier. There were a lot of surfers out so we watched for awhile.

When we got back to the hotel Teagan wanted to swim again so she spent two hours in the pool. We got burned pretty good but it was worth it to soak up the California sun. We went to the Olive Garden for supper and Teagan finally ate a good meal since her stomach recovered. We did a little shopping and then Teagan got Menchies. Back at the hotel we Skyped with Vaun (audio only) and settled in for the night.20160421_103301

San Diego Day 4

Teagan was feeling much better and ate a little breakfast and then wanted to go for a swim. After swimming we headed down to the harbor to board our Hornblower cruise. We had hoped our tour would include some seals but all we saw were war ships from the US Navy. It was not very interesting. We got off the boat early and headed for Ross to shop. We both got lots of new cute tops. It was the first time I had my daughter try on something and say “Mom, you should try it on it might look better on you!” We got back to the hotel and got ready to go back to Sea World again. Teagan was doing okay but was pretty tired so we came back for a rest and ordered room service. Then we went for our moonlight swim. At restaurant beside the pool a man was playing guitar and singing. He was very good and it was nice to swim around and listen to him.

San Diego Day 3

Teagan woke up Wednesday morning and threw up. Then she continued to throw up for hours, she couldn’t even keep down water. I eneded up taking her to the doctor and getting some medicine. After I gave Teagan the medicine she slept for three and a half hours. When she woke up I made her drink and drink and drink. Then she went back to sleep for the night. She woke up in the night giggling her head off. By morning she was feeling better.20160420_163624

San Diego Day 2

We went to Sea World from 10:30-2:00. After a break back at the hotel we went to Mission Beach. We had no towels as the hotel didn’t have beach towels and all the tourist places wanted a lot of money for towels. The water was cold but the sun was hot so it kind of evened out. The waves criss-crossed on the spot we were standing in and it made it hard to stand. Teagan enjoyed diving under the waves. The water was shallow but the waves varied in height so you didn’t know how high the water would come. We drove back to the hotel soaking wet and went straight to the pool. Teagan practiced her cannon calls into the water. After we got cleaned up we drove into Old Town to find some Mexican food. Most of the restaurants had long lines and we were starving so we found a place with no line called Miguel’s. It was taco Tuesday so we got tacos. Teagan had a huge slice of mud pie for dessert. Walking back to the car we stopped to buy some souveniers. It was a very busy day. This little bunny was spotted near our room in the garden.

San Diego Day 1

We left early Monday, April 18th for San Diego. This trip was our reward for the months of hard work we had put into vision therapy. When we got to San Diego we got our rental car and drove to Carlsbad to the outlet mall. It is not very excting anymore as we have so many of these same stores at Cross Iron Mills just north of us in Calgary. We did find a few deals at the Puma outlet. We then headed back to San Diego and went to pick up some groceries at Von’s. By that time it was check in time at our hotel. First thing Teagan wanted to do was go swimming. Our hotel had two pools, one just outside our room and one over by the restaurant. We liked the one by the restaurant better as it was a salt water pool and it was less busy and bigger!! Through out our vacation the pool was well visited by us including a night time swim under the full moon. They had a movie each night at the pool by our room but we never went to watch as we had seen all the movies before and there was too many people.

Sea World

We went twice to Sea World as it was across the street from our hotel and they had a free shuttle. Across the street was a 20 minute walk!! Teagan loved the animals and the shows. The dolphin show was exciting and the sea lion show was very funny. We saw many animals including sharks, dolphins, pilot whales, killer whales, fish, octopus, flamingos, bat rays, beluga whales, walruses, otters, seals and sea lions, just to name a few. It was not a very busy place, lines were short to get in and for rides. Our two trips were just right to see everything and we only went for a couple hours each time.

Vision Therapy

BestIMG_4190Saturday April 9th marked the end of a long journey. A journey that lasted 37 weeks, 211 days, 158 hours, 9495 minutes. It was the hardest journey we have had to overcome to help Teagan. Vision Therapy as you can see was worth the journey as Teagan can now read and spell with less difficulty than before but she still has some catching up to do. During therapy she screamed, yelled, cried, whined and hated me at times. Some of the exercises were fun and others were pure torture and seemed impossible but then became surmountable and at times even easy. The journey was hard but she made it through and so did I. We persevered together and now the reward, Teagan reads to me at bedtime! If you count the score on the two sheets above Teagan’s score of 46 turned into a score of 10! We are so very proud of our girl and more importantly she is proud of herself.

March

March was quiet until the end when Nana and Papa came for a visit. Dawn came on Easter to spend the day with us. Then Easter break was full of fun with taking Pearl for a bath, shopping at the mall, going to the zoo with Teagan’s friend Rowan, going to the movies and taking Pearl to the off leash park. We had some sunny, gorgeous days and even started to get a bit of a tan. A restful break for the end of a busy and stressful month.

Jo’s Birthday

It’s been a while since I blogged, I’ll blame life! In February, Mom and Dad came to visit. We celebrated my birthday when they were here with a special cake made by Teagan and Grandma. Teagan got her room painted a beautiful shade of blue by Grandpa. I didn’t take a picture for some reason!! On my actual birthday, which happened to fall on my day off, I got to have a very special lunch with my favourite daughter at our new favourite restaurant Via Cibo. It was an awesome birthday that started with a box of very expensive chocolates and ended with a delicious steak supper. There were a few surprises in between too! A very special day made even more special by my family.
